This has changed how surveying companies compete for the work. Price still matters, but turnaround time matters more. A firm that can deliver topographic and boundary data in days, instead of weeks, gets picked over a firm that’s cheaper but slower.
Drone and LiDAR technology plays a direct role here. A large tract that once took a field crew a week to walk can now be mapped from the air in a single day, with data processed shortly after.

Can you work during the option period, before we’ve closed on the land? Some firms only take on fully contracted projects. Developers need a firm willing to work under confidentiality during early site selection.
What is your realistic turnaround time for a site this size? Get a specific number, not a general estimate. Compare it against your own project deadlines before you commit.
